Puneet Vashist on Bollywood Mafia

Talking about his Bollywood career and why he thinks it didn’t take off despite starring in films like Josh and Taal, Puneet Vashist said, ” Bollywood mafia I would call that because my roles got chopped off.” He continued, “Not because I performed badly – because people know me as a performer, but they did get chopped off because I was quite a decent performer by the grace of God. I’ve gone through a lot of setbacks in my life, and a lot of depression because of my roles being chopped off. My personal life also really suffered.”

Puneet on choosing TV over Bollywood

He further said, “See, doing some big roles with some big stars… it does not matter to me at all. I want to see what kind of role I’m doing. I don’t want to name people here, but what is the point of doing a film with some Khan or some Kumar and playing 5 scenes in it? I do 5 scenes in an episode here (on TV).” He continued, “So, the entire Bollywood mafia and all that stuff, they will never entertain a person like me, and I am not one of those sweet talkers, people pleasers… I am an extremely humble person, so I couldn’t do any people-pleasing and lobbying for the biggies in the industry. I think it’s my good fortune and destiny that I’m doing lots of television and not these so-called big, big, big Bollywood films.”

He concluded by saying, “In today’s date if I get a film offer with a good role and if I have to leave Lakshmi Narayan for that, I would not even think of leaving the show. I will without a thought leave the film. I’m loving doing television.”
